Following the disagreement between the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over the appointment of the Chairman of the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), the Presidency wishes to clarify as follows:

A. That the NSITF is a hundred percent, Federal Government of Nigeria owned insurance parastatal, under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, designed for the role of insuring workers (employees) in the public and private sectors. The organization is empowered by law to implement the Employee Compensation Act (ECA) 2010 with mandate to insure workers and pay them compensation for accidents, deaths and injuries in the course of work.

B. The NSITF was bedevilled and riddled with corruption between 2012 - 2015, which resulted in a colossal loss and mismanagement of about N48 billion out of the total N62 billion contributions during the said period. These were contributions by the Employers – viz government and the private sector for payment of compensation to workers and even to Employers for loss of man-hours by their workers. This fraud has been investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the last Chairman and some members of the former board and some officials of the NSITF are presently being prosecuted by the EFCC.

C. All actions taken by the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment towards the resuscitation and repositioning of this ailing agency, including the Administrative Panel of Inquiry into the affairs of NSITF and the suspension of the inauguration of the board in 2018 were part of the special work plan approved for the Honourable Minister by Mr. President.

D. The appointment of the Chairman of this board, which is in consonance with Sec. 4(a) of the NSITF Act CAP N88 of 2004 was also approved by Mr. President since 23rd July, 2018 on the recommendation of the Hon. Minister. Mr. Austin Enejamo-Isire, a Chartered Accountant, Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and renowned Insurance expert, Senior Member, Chartered Institute of Insurance of Nigeria (CIIN), Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) was approved by Mr. President for this position. Also approved by Mr. President were the Managing Director and three Executive Directors who had assumed duties since 18 April 2017.

Others also approved as Non-Executive Directors are two (2) members to represent the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), two members to represent the Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and one (1) member each to represent the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. Members of this board are to be formally inaugurated at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019 by the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

E. Comrade Frank Kokori , our respected veteran labour leader has Mr. President’s immense respect and has also been appointed on the recommendation of the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment to chair the board of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), a diploma awarding labour institution.

Finally, the Presidency has noted with deep concern and regrets, the events that culminated in a skirmish at the private residence of the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment, and condemns it, in its entirety. However, in the spirit of reconciliation, the Presidency appeals for calm from the NLC and the Ministry of Labour and Employment officials, as there are ongoing efforts to reconcile the NLC leadership with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, led by their Minister who has doggedly been fighting the cause of Nigerian workers whenever their issue is discussed by government, the latest being the enactment of the new National Minimum Wage Act 2019.

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was freed on Friday for the first time in six years after being cleared this month of charges that he conspired to kill protesters in the 2011 uprising that ended his 30-year rule. Below are some key facts about Egypt's long-time ruler:

* Mohamed Hosni Mubarak was born on May 4, 1928 in the village of Kafr al-Meselha in the Nile Delta, the son of a government functionary.

* Mubarak joined the Egyptian Military Academy after school before becoming an air force pilot, rising through the ranks to become air force commander. In 1975, he became vice president to Anwar Sadat, the man who made Egypt's historic peace deal with Israel.

* Mubarak was thrust unexpectedly into office when Islamists assassinated Sadat at a military parade in 1981. The burly former air force commander was never expected to become president but he proved a far more durable leader than anyone imagined at the time.

* In power, Mubarak promoted Middle East peace and, from 2004, backed economic liberalisation measures that delivered sturdy growth but which many ordinary Egyptians blamed for widening the gap between rich and power.

* Mubarak was a close ally of the United States, which saw him as a bulwark against Islamist militants and poured billions of dollars of military and other aid into Egypt since it became the first Arab state to make peace with Israel.

* He always kept a tight lid on political opposition and resisted significant political change, even under pressure from the United States.

* Mubarak won his first multi-candidate presidential election in 2005, but the outcome was never in doubt and his main rival came a distant second. Rights groups and observers said the election was marred by irregularities, as were all elections during his years in powers.

* The former president had suffered from health problems in the waning years of his rule and went to Germany for gall bladder surgery in March 2010. Yet questions remained over who would succeed the ageing stalwart.

* The rising political profile and economic influence of his sons, Alaa and Gamal, led many to believe Mubarak was grooming them to take power after his death, and raised concerns among his allies in the military that would later prove politically fatal.

* Mubarak stepped down on Feb. 11, 2011, after 18 days of demonstrations by millions of Egyptians inspired by a peaceful popular revolution in Tunisia. The military took control pending democratic elections which were held in 2012.

* Mubarak first went into internal exile in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where he spent more and more time during his last years in power. After suffering heart problems during questioning, Mubarak was detained in hospital pending the outcome of his trials.

* He first stood trial on Aug. 3, 2011 for the killing of protesters on charges that carry the death penalty, becoming the first leader toppled in the "Arab Spring" uprisings to be tried. The televised early hearings mesmerised the Arab world, showing the ageing autocrat lying on a hospital bed in a courtroom cage.

* Mubarak was sentenced to life in prison in 2012 for his role in the killing of protesters. In 2014, an appeal court judge dropped charges against him. A final ruling by the Court of Cassation on March 2 declared him innocent. In the end, he was convicted on only one corruption charge, serving the three-year sentence in hospital, where he fell and hurt his pelvis in 2014.

* Mubarak left the Maadi Military Hospital on March 24, for his home in the upscale Cairo neighbourhood of Heliopolis.

* Mubarak's critics said his release symbolised the reversal of gains made during the 18-day uprising the ended his 30-year rule.

On April 21, the world was shocked and saddened to learn that iconic musician Prince had died at age 57, and many people had one burning question why?

Officials later revealed that the singer passed from a fentanyl overdose, but Prince did not possess a prescription for the synthetic opiate painkiller. According to the Associated Press, nearly two dozen counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, and falsely labeled as "Watson 385,” were found in one Aleve bottle at his Paisley Hills estate. Autopsy reports showed that Prince had so much fentanyl in his system at the time of his death that it would have killed any adult, regardless of size. The Star Tribune reported that the 5 foot 2 inch singer weighed only 112 pounds the day of his death.

Hundreds of people have overdosed on the drug since 2013, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. But what exactly is fentanyl, and what makes it so dangerous? Now that the questions around Prince’s death have been answered, people want to learn more about fentanyl and its effects. This following information was compiled from WebMD and Narconon.

What is fentanyl?
A painkiller that is 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine

Typically, fentanyl is available as a skin patch, lozenge, pills, shots, sublingual film, nasal spray, or is given intravenously, according to WebMD

A person on this drug will feel anesthetized and oblivious to any problems or concerns, Narconon reported

Who is prescribed fentanyl
Fentanyl is frequently used to help people deal with cancer pain

Some people who are already taking long-lasting opiates for pain will also take fentanyl for “breakthrough” pain — which are sensations that break through the opiate barrier

Older adults and people with lung disease should use caution if they’re taking the drug

How does it work?
Fentanyl targets specific receptors in your brain and spinal cord to decrease the feeling of pain and reduce your emotional response to pain

The drug takes effect rapidly, but then its effects pass quickly

What are the typical side effects of the drug?

Weakness and fatigue

Feelings of elation or euphoria

Dry mouth

Difficulty urinating

Difficulty breathing

Constipation, which may be severe

What ricks are associated with taking fentanyl?
Patients could develop a drug dependency to fentanyl and their body will expect the medicine daily

It is very easy to overdose on fentanyl

Individuals have overdosed when they mixed fentanyl with either cocaine or heroin. It can also react with other prescription drugs

Heat can increase the amount of fentanyl released from the patch, which causes more risk of serious side effects

If you’ve been watching the Olympics, you've no doubt seen sweeping shots of the iconic Christ the Redeemer monument overlooking Rio de Janeiro. Beyond its breathtaking views, the statue has a colorful history that’s worth exploring, and a future that could leave it looking very different from how it does today. Here are a few facts about Cristo Redentor, as it’s known in its native Portuguese.

Following the creation of the Brazilian republic in 1889, which separated church and state, fear began to grow amongst Catholics that the nation was headed toward a precipice. After World War I, followers felt they needed a symbol to counteract what they saw as increasing "godlessness" throughout the country. In 1920, they selected engineer Heitor da Silva Costa’s design of a statue of Christ to be situated atop Mount Corcovado overlooking the city.

Da Silva Costa’s initial sketch was of Christ carrying a large cross in one hand and a globe in the other. The statue, he noted, should face the rising sun. While the design initially won over the project’s organizers, it quickly gained the playful name “Christ with a ball.” After surveying Corcovado from various points throughout the city and consulting with Brazilian artist Carlos Oswald, Da Silva Costa came up with a new design: an Art Deco, arms-wide-open Christ.
Da Silva Costa traveled to France in search of a world-class sculptor to turn his divine design into reality. He eventually commissioned Paul Landowski, a French-Polish sculptor who further sharpened the statue’s Art Deco design. Over the next several years, Landowski fashioned the 98-foot tall sculpture in clay pieces, which were then shipped to Brazil and remade with reinforced concrete.

Reinforced concrete, which had just recently been developed, was one of the few materials strong enough to support the statue and its wide-wingspan design. But Da Silva Costa and others felt concrete was too rough for the fine contours of Christ’s image. Afraid that his monument would end up a failure, Da Silva Costa found inspiration in a fountain along Paris’s Champs Elysees. Tiles lining the fountain accentuated its curves in just the way Da Silva Costa hoped to see in his design. He immediately updated the project’s plans, and eventually chose soapstone to craft the tiles. According to the BBC, workers who made the tiles frequently wrote on the back, meaning Christ the Redeemer is littered with hidden messages.
Wind and rain have worn away at the statue’s stone tiles, necessitating numerous restorations over the years. Christ the Redeemer is also a frequent target of lightning strikes. Although most fizzle out on its numerous lightning rods, the monument has taken some damaging hits recently. Just before the World Cup in 2014, lightning singed the back of the head and zapped off the tip of a finger, leaving Rio scrambling to make repairs before the eyes of the world were upon it.

When Da Silva Costa decided to cover the statue with soapstone tiles, he chose a very light colored strain from a quarry near the city of Ouro Preto. It was the same stone used by the 18th century Brazilian sculptor Aleijadinho, whom Da Silva Costa greatly admired. Unfortunately, the quarry has run dry, and restoration experts are having a hard time replicating the stones’ light gray hue when they have to replace them. A spokesman for Brazil’s National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage recently told the BBC that when the next major renovation happens in 2020, replacement stones will be darker. "The stones of Christ are hard to find," he said.
To celebrate the monument's 75th anniversary in 2006, authorities built a small chapel at its base. So yes, you can get married beneath Christ the Redeemer. However, there's limited space inside, and making the slow journey to the top (cog train to an elevator to an escalator) in full wedding attire may not be everyone's idea of romance.

For years, visitors to Christ the Redeemer had to scale around 200 steps to get from the train station to the statue. After many complaints about accessibility, Rio decided to install a series of escalators and elevators in 2003 to make the route easier. Today, you can get to the statue with the same ease as getting to the top floor of a mall.
A couple of acrobatic graffiti artists scaled the statue while it was being renovated and wrote all over the head, arms, and chest. Rio’s mayor, Eduardo Paes, called the act a "crime against the nation." The vandals eventually turned themselves in.

Rather than depict Christ carrying a cross, Da Silva Costa designed the figure to resemble a cross with his outstretched arms. Scholars have noted that this symbolizes a bridge between traditional depictions of Christ, which typically showed him nailed to or carrying a cross, and modern ones. Today, Brazil is a much more religiously diverse nation, and many view the statue’s gesture as one of welcoming and peace. In 1969, Brazilian artist Gilberto Gil wrote a song inspired by the monument called "That Hug" ("Aquele Abraço").
In 2007, more than 100 million people voted on the New Seven Wonders of the World from a list of 21 finalists (the competition was put on by the New Open World Corporation, so take that for what you will). Christ the Redeemer made the cut, along with the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, and the Roman Colosseum. Sorry Eiffel Tower—maybe next time.

Many facts about sex have become knowledge, but some still lay hidden in secret, just waiting to be discovered. The following weird sex facts may have you thinking for quite some time.

1. Women are more willing to commit adultery during their ovulation than at any other time throughout their cycle, most notably due to their bodies’ desire to fertilize the ovulated egg.

2. Most women who lose their virginity between ages fifteen and nineteen actually wish they had waited a bit longer. Additionally, most teenagers lose their virginity by age 17, but those who have not lost their virginity by 24 tend to stay a virgin.

3. If a female ferret does not have sex for a year, she will die. Thankfully, this is not true for human females whose sexual desires can remain strong, but not strong enough that the anticipation and waiting will cause them to die.

4. Some people are wired to have more sex than others. Scientists are not entirely sure why this is, but it is true in both males and females. Some will want more, while others will want less; it just depends on how their brain is wired.

5. This is one of the weird sex facts that most of us have not heard about before. During intercourse, your inner nose swells just as your breasts and genitals will. This is most notably due to the increased flow of blood while having intercourse.

6. Contrary to what men and women are led to believe, the size of a man’s penis fully erect is not really that important. Besides, the average length of an erect penis is 5.6 inches.

7. For men, sex burns between 100 and 200 calories on average. On the other hand, it only burns approximately 69 calories for women.

8. In case you were wondering, there is enough sperm in one single man to impregnate every woman on the planet who is fertile.

9. We all know you need to be in good health to have great sex, but studies show that lower cholesterol is directly related to a better performance in the bedroom.

10. For those who are wondering if their grandparents and great-grandparents still have sexual intercourse, the overwhelming answer is yes. Approximately one third of women in their 80’s continue to have sex with their husband or boyfriend, so long as they are both in good enough physical health to do so.

11. Humans are not the only ones interested in performing oral sex, wolves, bears and bats are also known to participate in the practice quite often.

12. While many know that chocolate can be an excellent arousal for having sex, apparently the smell of pumpkin can help increase the blood flow to the penis to encourage an erection.

13. Low blood sugar can easily cause harm to your love life as low blood sugar makes you irritable and less likely to want your partner.

14. At the point of orgasm, both men and women tend to have a heart rate of approximately 140. This is not excessive, but just enters the common cardiovascular zone.

15. For men under the age of 40, their average time to erection is a mere ten seconds. For some it is shorter, and if it is much longer than ten seconds, it may be an indication of erectile dysfunction.

16. The initial spurt of a man’s ejaculation travels at approximately 28 miles per hour, even faster than the 100 meters dash world record, which is currently 22.9 miles per hour.

17. For those intrigued by having a threesome, you will need to travel to Australia as 28% of the population admits to having done a threesome at least once.

18. Only 5% of the population have sex once a day, while 20% have sex 3-4 times a week. The rest of the population are unknown, but hopefully not too spread out.

19. Women have the ability to make their voice sound “sexier” in order to entice their men when needed. Men, however, do not possess such an ability and simply have to rely on other factors.

20. Approximately 60% of men who get aroused have erect nipples. In fact, the nipples are just as sensitive in men as they are in women, which is why so many men get erect nipples.

21. The recipe to the sensitivity of the clitoris is its 8,000 nerve fibers, which is twice as many as contained in the penis. As such, it is this area that most helps a woman reach orgasm.

22. As an orgasm becomes imminent in a woman, the vagina decreases in size by as much as 30%. This contraction is most likely to help increase the sensitivity felt by the woman as she climaxes into the orgasm.

23. Masturbation is known to help cure depression as the release of emotions and hormones when orgasm is reached to put your mind at ease, and make you more comfortable with your own body.

24. In order to know how much testosterone a man has, compare the length of his ring finger to his index finger. The longer the ring finger is in comparison to the index finger, the more testosterone in his body.

25. For a woman attempting to reach climax, it will take her only four minutes through masturbation. However, it can take upwards of 10-20 minutes to reach climax during intercourse.

26.This could be one of the weirdest sex facts you never heard about. Women who are prone to migraines are also more likely to have more sex, this is because orgasms can help alleviate the pain of a migraine.

27. Approximately 1% of women can achieve full orgasm solely through stimulating their breasts.

28. Nearly two thirds of all men and women have fantasized about another person while having sexual intercourse with their current partner. Typically, the one being fantasized about is not someone they will be able to have intercourse with, but it may increase theirs or their partners satisfaction.

29. When you are aroused and prepped for sexual intercourse, you are actually less likely to be grossed out by anything that happens.

30. Orgasms, along with sneezes, cannot be voluntarily stopped once they have started because they are physiological responses to an event.

Try and avoid your regular patterns and find something better to do with your time – or you’ll be heading down a negative spiral.

It is now a common scene to see how guys trash ladies both online and offline. Female bashing has become a norm that people no longer see anything good in our ladies whose bad sides outweighs the good sides.

Sometimes, even as a guy, I shed tears when guys often imply that ladies only have five minutes bleeping to offer them and that just a few of them can truly help to their dreams come true (I think this assertion is true to a reasonable extent)

To be candid from the statistical point of view, with the rate at which guys air their views and opinions about our ladies, one can jump to conclusion that good girls are now going to extinct or good girls are like needles in the ocean which are very rare to find. However, good ladies have now become a treasure and a rare gem that when you find one, you have to give testimony of it in your church.

I will try as much as possible not to sound harsh before they tag me a misogynist, because I know that many detest the truth. Though it may come as bashing but I expect the ladies to sieve the bashing and pick the sense in it. Below are the reasons...

1. They Are So Much Concerned About Receiving than Giving

No matter how we try to embellish this, it will not change the fact that it doesn’t make any sense. The notion that ladies are naturally meant to be at the receiving end, has made many misuse this assertion. No guy will appreciate a lady who wants to milk him dry or wants him for only financial assistance and doesn’t care about his personal feelings or his happenings. These kinds of ladies have nothing to offer than milk you dry and in some cases compensate you with what they have under their skirts

2. Because They Cannot Be Relied On

The materialistic ladies are mostly double dealer. They hardly keep on a guy as their boyfriend even if the guy give them heaven and earth, they will still look elsewhere for something they don’t really need because they are confused set of beings

This reminds me of a lady in my villa. Her boyfriend did all he could to ensure that the lady was contended (got her a well furnished apartment, and always sent allowances for feeding and her upkeep). On a fateful day, he paid her a surprise visit only to catch a dude bleeping her in the same room he secured for her. He got mad and sent her packing out of the apartment. All these yeye friends of hers supported her and blamed the guy, saying he act like someone who did what no guy has done before

3. Because They See s*x As An Investment

Ladies who see s*x as investment have nothing to offer in relationship. This is why you see many of them crying after a breakup that the guy betrayed their trust despite how much they have invested in the relationship. Ask them what they have invested and they will say, afterall they allowed him get under their skirts. She will finally conclude that all guys are the same.

4. Because They Are ingrates

Those who do request gifts, money and whatnot are hardly appreciative. This is because, whatever guys give them, they will compare with what other guys have been giving them. They will be like, I don’t know Makinde is very stingy. Imagine he gave me a hand bag of N45,000 as my Christmas gift, while Tunde emptied his account and even borrowed from his friend just to commemorate my birthday.

Personally, I feel that doing your fellow guys a great favour, is like an investment while doing a great favour is seen as your bound duty. This notion has made many of them become ingrates.

5. Because They Don’t Help Our Dreams Come True

In recent time, I have started venturing and conditioning my mind on productive things that will make me become a messiah to many, rather than give myself unnecessary worries on ladies who will claim they truly love me, and the same lady will start acting weird the moment a guy using Peugeot 504 swags her. If they want to insult me that I’m stingy, at least, I still have my meagre cash with me.

6. Because They Force Guys To Make Solemn Promises Before Opening Their Legs

To some ladies, what they have in between their legs, is their shops, therefore, they use as manipulative measures to coerce guys into making solemn promises such as renting shops for them, paying their school fees, buying new generation electronic gadgets and many more. When a lady puts you in such a tight condition, this is an indication that she has nothing but five minutes pleasure to offer.

7. Because They are Lazy

To the average Nigerian lady out there, a man must lavish money on her to be taken serious or seen as impressive. Men are tirelessly working their asses out there, hustling to better their lives, while most of these ladies just rest their asses at home waiting for a wealthy man to come and date or marry them so that their hustle will end, yet they fight for feminism. Lazy girl have nothing to offer but five minutes pleasure

8. Their Looks Is Their Utmost Priority

Many ladies work more on improving on their looks than their characters, or venture into things that will make them INDEPENDENT. These kinds of ladies have nothing to offer guys than kitty-cat

9. Because Many Of Them Don’t Take To Correction

I detest ladies who have the habit of “if a guy truly loves me, he should be able to cope with my flaws or he should take a walk out of the relationship”. These kinds of ladies are always right on their own part, therefore, they won’t take to correction no matter what. They have nothing to offer but s*x
